Hi, I'm Ashley! In the photo above, I am holding my then-3 month old son after he had a blowout (in his car seat). Now, if this isn't motherhood summed up in a photograph, I don't know what is. We just have to smile through it, right?
Anyway, I started this blog waaaaaay back in 2014. And before then, I had a blog under a different name that dated back to 2007 or so. And before then? I had a Xanga (remember those)? Let's not talk about that one. All I need you to know is that I was writing a blog long before writing a blog was a cool thing. It doesn't mean I am really great at it. It just means that I have been doing it for a while.
When I began writing Heart of the Mama, I only had two of my four children -- Noelle & Charlotte. Wow, has life gotten infinitely richer, messier, and more awesome since then! I now am the proud mama of Noelle & Charlotte as well as their younger sister, Shiloh, and their new baby brother, Leo.
We live a full, loud, and loving life. It is definitely not easy breezy, but we try to make the most of each day. I write about the good times, and I also write about the hard, sad, and scary. Writing is such an outlet for me, and I love connecting with other people through my words.
I have been married for almost 11 years to my high school sweetheart. By day, he is a family doctor, and by night he is Super Dad. He also served as the general contractor for our huge house demo-reno-new build project in 2017-2018. I have documented those adventures under the category, "The Tree HousE."
When I am not writing, I love to explore photography. I have been a family photographer for 7+ years. I also really, really love coffee and strolling the aisles of Target. And if I am drinking coffee while I am AT Target? Well that's one big ball of amazing.
